6 Easy Classic Cocktail Recipes

There are two things that are hard to decide when it comes to organizing a party for friends and family. The first is the food menu, and the second is the beverage menu. If you have been planning to impress your guests with a selection of cocktails that you made all by yourself, you may need some help picking out which ones to make.

Here we have made a list of cocktail ideas that you can try out at your next brunch or barbecue party:

  • Margarita
This is probably one of the most popular and commonly made cocktails in most households and doesn’t require many ingredients to make. Ideally, you should be making it using some tequila, Triple Sec or Cointreau, some freshly squeezed lime juice, and some water. This is a shaken drink, so you would want to set aside some ice cubes to add in later.
  • Negroni
This is a popular Italian cocktail made by stirring together equal parts of gin, some Campari, and sweet vermouth. You can serve this drink over a bed of ice cubes in a rocks glass and garnish it with an orange peel.
  • Mint julep
Mint julep is the Kentucky Derby’s official drink and looks like a perfect summer drink, ideal for those Sunday brunch parties. It is made by mixing some simple sugar syrup and water and adding a few mint pieces to it. Take this syrup, along with some ice, in a large julep cup and pour a few ounces of bourbon over it.
  • Sangria
This is a cocktail that you can make in bulk and refrigerate so that you won’t have to make a new drink for each round. This is made by pouring out a bottle of red wine into a big jug and mixing it with some sugar and brandy. To this, you can add a bunch of fruits, like thinly sliced oranges, berries, etc. Remember to let the sangria sit for an hour or so in the refrigerator before serving.
  • Manhattan
A Manhattan is a super easy and convenient cocktail to make, and you can make it in bulk. For making a good batch of Manhattan, mix some bourbon or rye whiskey with some sweet vermouth and orange bitters over a bed of ice. Once your drink is cold, serve it in a big cocktail glass or rocks glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry.
  • Old fashioned
For some, the old fashioned cocktail is an acquired taste. But once you get used to it, there’s no looking back. It tastes delicious. For making a good ol’ glass of old fashioned, first, saturate a cube of sugar with a few drops of Angostura bitters. Pour some water over the sugar cube till it dissolves. Add some rye whiskey and ice to this, and serve with a thin slice of orange as garnish.
